Brick Calculator

Bricks are cheap individually and expensive by the thousand. Get the count right before you order.

Why 10.4 per square foot

The mortar joint enlarges the module to 9.5 × 5 inches, so one square foot of 9-inch wall takes about 10.4 bricks.

Ordering

Bricks break in transport. 5–8% extra is normal; below 5% usually means a second order at a higher rate.

Bricks in 1,000 sqft of 9-inch wall?
About 10,400 plus wastage — order 11,000.
Soak bricks first?
Traditional fired bricks should be wetted so they do not pull water from the mortar.
